for sure one of the best future music's ever line up wise i didnt leave the anjuna stage all day except for food and takin a leak

Jaytech was a great warm up with some awsome prog house/trance

Super 8 & Tab Busted it out with some great tunes new and old as usual awsome set

Mat Zo was pretty boring altho he dropped a few of his tunes (driving to heaven) my fav
the rest was all cheesey electro bs daft punk - harder faster stronger (Deadmau5 remix??) maybe he would have been better off goin before super 8 & tab

Above & Beyond were awsome as usual! not as good as in melbourne but nothing could compair to that day i think if i bothered to keep up to date with TATW i might have known more of there tunes but was great to hear the new stuff thats comin out thru them atm

all in all a good day great to hang out with friends and catch up

Jaytech - great. Haven't heard much of him before, just little bits and pieces here and there, but thought his set was excellent.

Way Out West - I've seen them before with a live band and was a little disappointed that "Live" wasn't with full band, but otherwise it was excellent. Loved it, new versions of their tracks. i love WOW so really enjoyed their set, they are always great.

John Digweed - fantastic.

Dubfire - a joke.

Matt Zo - pretty crap.

Franz Ferdinand - absolute rubbish.

Sven Vath - awesome awesome awesome. It was just rocking the whole time, absolutely wicked set. He showed why he's a legend of techno. Plus he definitely won the "best pants of the day" award.

Booka Shade - wicked. They're always great. Crowd wasn't exactly rocking which was a shame, but their set and performance was great. Even the 10 mins or so with no lights at all was great, pitch black with awesome tunes going, really thats all you need.

Didn't bother trying the crowds at Prodigy. Saw bits and pieces of Above and Beyond and thought they were pretty average. Every time I popped over for a look it was fluffy shit, usually vocals, normally with about 4 breakdowns totalling 5 minutes of each track.

Had a great day.
We got there early, caught most of Frosts set, crowd was already well rockin'.
Main stage setup was shite, not enough room!
Likes of You stage was good with the circus tent, lucky it didnt rain Im sure everyone wouldve crammed in there!
Caught Stafford Brothers, Jaytech, Digweed, Operator Please, bits of Super8 and Tab. Really enjoyed Mat Zo, yes he played a few 'unusual' tracks, but he got the crowd fully pumped. A & B played a great set but like 2J said, it wasnt as good as GG in 2008, although I still really enjoyed their set. Spent most of the day at the Anjuna stage, fantastic setup. Not too packed, bar and toilets close and not in the way of the mainstream crowd.

Line ups for the loos were crap, I did somehow use the blokes loos, never again!
Heard there was a 25,000 strong crowd (as per the paper today) is this accurate?

Highlight was Ricey watching from the out skirts lol and of course catching up with everyone :D
Lowlight, day went too quick

I had a great day, although my feet were hell sore yesterday...

Frost - Didn't get there early enough to get all of his set, but seemed to have the early crowd pumping. And was it just me, or did the crowd seem to thin a bit when he finished?

Jaytech - If the crowd thinned for the start of his set, it didn't take long to build up again. He played the kind of set I expected from him, but I didn't think it would be so good. He played the perfect set for the timeslot and had so much energy and looked like he was having heaps of fun which really got the crowd into it.

Super8 & Tab - I was expecting both of them and wasn't expecting too much, but Tab played an awesome set. Probably my favourite set for the day (apart from A&B).

Mat Zo - Was expecting great things from Mat, especially with the later timeslot than he got in other states, but he didn't really seem to continue with the energy Tab created. Maybe A&B asked him to play more of a warmup set for them or maybe I was just expecting too much. Still a very good set, but not great.

Above & Beyond - Played exactly the kind of set I was expecting and wanting. Loved Paavo's crazy antics with the laptop messages and got to share a laugh with them both over the fence after they finished. Alone Tonight and Satellite was the perfect finish to a great day.

One thing I didn't really like, were the lights on the A&B stage. I like to see the DJs interact with the crowd and to see the enjoyment on their faces, but a lot of A&B's set I was either staring into darkness or blinded by all the lights.

Awesome day, glad mother nature looked after us and held off from the rain.

To be honest I enjoyed every set played on the Anjuna stage but A&B were def the highlight. Could not believe how many phonatical trance fans were cranking for there whole set and knew all the vocals for a lot of there choons.

A great sign for future trance events coming up in Adelaide!

I had the best day!
Way Out West - First time i'd ever seen em, didnt really no wat to expect but they totally rocked it! was very impressed by them and their Breaksy Trance sounds!
Mat Zo - wasnt doing it for me at all im afraid. Not much happnin in the part of the set i saw...
Above & Beyond - one of the best sets i've ever seen (and no, i wasnt at the 'epic' global gathering one). Heaps of exclusive Anjuna tracks i'd never heard before including some new Oceanlab/Above & Beyond tracks?? as well as a good collection of A&B classics.
i WAS intending to check out Guetta and Prodigy for a few mins, but A&B were so good that i didnt want to miss a second of it - not many times has that happened!
According to like 10 people ive spoken to, Guetta was the biggest disappointment in the world anyway. "Boring set, you could hardly hear him, and his stage presence was non-existent" Heard good things about prodigy tho...
VIP - express entry was ok, but did it really save me much time? extra "toilets" plural, was ONE toilet for the majority of the day then one other a bit later on. There were 3 or 4 bar staff with just as big a crowd as outside pretty much. lucky i only paid $15 for it. imagine the suckers who paid $80 thru ticketmaster. u would think that all the money they made from it couldve bin spent on extra toilets or sumthin :p

Sum vids
http://www.facebook.com/rayman1?v=app_2 ... 6736980104 - Massive crowd all singing along to 'Oceanlab - Satellite'
http://www.facebook.com/rayman1?v=app_2 ... 9379450104 - The Above & Beyond intro

PS drinks prices go up every festival, soon we'll be paying $20 a drink

Yeah, plenty of Anjuna releases, but if you kept up to date with TATW, you would've heard most of them before. I didn't notice any new OceanLab tracks, but there was one very Above & Beyond feat Richard Bedford sounding track that I hadn't heard before. The one with the lyrics "never forget about a thing called love" or something along those lines. Other A&B tracks I remember from there set were:

Above & Beyond "Anjunabeach"
OceanLab vs. Mike Shiver "If I Could Fly On The Surface" [Daniel Kandi Mashup]
Tranquility Base "Buzz" [Buzztalk Mix]
OceanLab "Lonely Girl" [Gareth Emery Remix]
OceanLab vs. Gareth Emery "On A Metropolis Day" [Myon & Shane54 Mashup]
OceanLab "Miracle" [Above & Beyond Club Mix]
OceanLab "Sirens Of The Sea" [Above & Beyond Club Mix]
Above & Beyond feat. Richard Bedford "Alone Tonight" [Above & Beyond Club Mix]
OceanLab "Satellite" [Origianl Above & Beyond Mix]

Should have gotten my arse there earlier and seen frost's set....

Jaytech's set was magnificent! Wow!
Tab played a great set, was good to get a pic with him after too.
I expected Mat Zo's set to be a little bit techy and different, yep no suprises there. I just appreciated such a talented producer being in Adelaide!
A&B's set I really enjoyed, cept for the guy who thought it was cool to "whoop whoop" through out the whole thing. I keep up with TATW, but I did hear a new track or 2 in there.

Overall a very good day and weather was perfect!! Woohoo!

Was there an Anjuna merchandise store anywhere? If so I couldn't see it.... I want a T-shirt!

I was right up the front for most of the A&B set, grabbed a set list from a gig they did about 2 weeks before FMF Adelaide and it looks pretty similar to what they played for us.

I didn't spend much time around the other stages. Contagious and myself did the rounds pretty early on but every other stage was playing the exact same thing: shitty electro. Coupled with the amount of purely stupid posers that were about I stayed at the Anjuna Stage for the large majority of the day.

No seriously, there were a lot of dickheads there doing and saying stupid shit. I hate to say it but I am actually starting to miss enchanted and enchanted like events. Why? Two reasons: atmosphere and passouts. The atmosphere at any big event (we love sounds, summadayze etc..) is very commercial in nature and as such attracts a number of people that I don't normally associate with, mainly posers and heroes.

Having no passouts for an 8 hour festival sucks major dick too. At enchanted, you could atleast go and chill out in your car or somewhere away from a stage if you wanted. There are no chillout areas at festivals, just a stage, some shops and nowhere to sit down. So you're up on your feet or lying down getting dirty on the grass but you can't leave and go grab subway or pizza shapes or anything like that. I understand that it's to prevent people going out and taking drugs and then coming back, but I don't think that I should suffer because someone else wants to do something stupid.

Oh and the toilet situation? Why couldn't they have pee troughs for the guys? They are much more efficient and we wouldn't have girls pushing in all the time. You can hire trucks that are just like portable toilets which would do the job nicely. Either that or just get more toilets, 15 minutes wait is annoying as hell.

I don't know why I'm angry at this. I just can't help feeling like cattle going through the motions, spending money on expensive drinks etc.. Exactly what the promoters want. The problem is apart from the acts there is nothing that sets this festival apart from any of the other festivals that have transpired in Adelaide. All of my memories of festivals are a blur except for the times I went to melbourne. They stand out because they always made an effort to create a unique experience. Whether it was chicks with wings in bikinis or fireworks towards the end, they put a lot of effort into presentation and atmosphere. Also, they had places to sit.

Onto the main acts I managed to see. As I mentioned, I was only really at the anjuna stage for most of the day.

Jaytech: Fucking Awesome! Hands down the best set of the day. I had hardly heard anything from his set and really enjoyed everything I did hear. I think he mostly played Prog/Tech House which suited his timeframe and stage well. He also had a really great energy and presence on stage and looked like he was enjoying himself.

Way Out West: This was Future Music Festival wasn't it? All I heard was their older stuff like Killa etc.. What I was expecting were some newer tunes from them but I don't think they've been too active recently. It's the same reason I didn't enjoy Binary Finary; they are milking their past exploits rather than adding anything new and fresh to trance/electronica.

DJ Tab: Yeah, he was ok. I was hoping for some newer songs but I guess if you like super8 & tab's stuff then you would've liked his set. I'm not a huge fan but it was still thoroughly enjoyable. Their remix of Nothing But You has been on my playlist for a while now.

Mat Zo: Crap. I was utterly appalled at his set. Maybe I set my expectations too high. Wait no, my expectations were justified. He is a fucking awesome producer and should be an awesome DJ. Playing deadrat6 tunes? What the fuck? Not only that he fucked up by playing Deep Down twice, the second time he mixed out of it about 3 minutes in, hoping noone would notice. But contagious did, then I did after he told me.

Above and Beyond: Yep, pretty standard set from these guys too. They played basically a 3 hour TATW show and I had heard like 90% of their tunes before. I'm not the biggest fan of that stuff but it's ok to listen to. There was some annoying fuckhead who kept singing in a high pitched voice the wrong song. Noone on Earth instead of Satellite etc.. He didn't shut up.

The best thing about the day was the weather, perfect festival weather so suck it kaya. Also I enjoyed seeing everyone out and just running a muck. I think this may be the last festival I go to this year as I'm saving my pennies for a trip, but I'm sure I'll see most of you out at club events :D

I have to agree with you in regards to the 'atmosphere', I barely left the Anjuna stage, what for, to see posers and listen to the same stagnant house crap?
I was just thinking the other day how good it would be to go to an enchanted again.
15 min wait for the toilet!! ha try 30-40 minute wait for a girl.
And yes I agree about the drink prices, I think we spent around $400? Ridiculous. Makes me wonder why I go to these events...oh yes to see my friends, catch some of my favorites DJ's and have a day out. At what cost though? I prefer a house party any time.
